In Marslow Demand Theory, there are five hierarchies: Physiological, Safety, Belonging, Esteem, Self-actualisation. I don't know which hierachy the encouragement will be, but it's really very important in human life, especial when someone done lots in your position.
Maybe you don't wanna exhibit yourself in front of everyone's face, since that how they canl pay much attention to you, sometimes I laugh at myself, what kind of people you are belonging to ,superiority ,high-hearted? Actually, I just do normal things in the world ,then when shall I shine?
Yes, maybe I should envisage myself , and envisage the world , I know my position, but also eager encouragement, so next time when you know your staff have done his/her best ,just give some encouragement , maybe this is much more efficient than your salary
