in release 4 and for Firefox (fine In IE), when you double click a hidden split pane area (i.e. Auto Tabs heading in the complex layout example) and it reveals itself, if you either press the pin button or press the double arrow button - the pin becomes permanent and the button to minimise the split area never re-appears.
