New EMC Documentum xPlore to Replace FAST Instream Search

xPlore Architecure

xPlore and the Legacy FAST Instream can be compared in terms of  their architecture. Some points of comparison include:

• xPlore's architecture is more elegant  and simple than FASTs : xPlore has fewer processes and a single unified XML  database. Complexity and large process footprint can lead to resource bloat and  reliability problems.

• xPlore Leverages best-of-breed  technology: xPlore leverages best-of-breed technology for all of its  components (xDB XML database, Lucene for base full text indexing, and industry  leading linguistic analysis and content extraction technology).

• xPlore uses Standard Query languages  instead of proprietary ones: xPlore uses xQuery instead of the proprietary  FAST query language (FQL).
