Lin Haoran’s Quest for True Essence
In the bustling metropolis, there was a young man named Lin Haoran, not your average Joe. Lin Haoran had a pair of eyes adept at discovering the nuances of life, a brain that enjoyed independent thinking, and an unwavering determination to explore the true essence of the universe, the Dao, and life itself. He often said, “Fame and fortune are like instant coffee; the initial taste might be sweet, but the aftertaste can’t compare to the richness and fascination of transcending the eight poles and pondering the millennia.”
One day, a sudden idea struck Lin Haoran, “They say science and religion are the twin wings of human flight. Shouldn’t I attach a pair of wings to myself and give flying a try?” Thus, with a microscope in his left hand and the “Diamond Sutra” in his right, he embarked on his “cross-disciplinary flight training.”
While nodding and smiling at the laboratory mice, Lin Haoran mumbled to himself, “You little guys, don’t think scientists are heartless and blind. We have sentiments too!” In the next moment, he was sitting cross-legged in a Zen temple, wide-eyed, discussing with the abbot, “Master, this boundless Buddhist doctrine, can it also explain the mystery of the DNA double helix structure?”
One day, seeing people masquerading anti-science under the guise of “science” and engaging in private affairs under the banner of “benevolence,” Lin Haoran couldn’t help but shake his head and sigh, “Oh my, these folks have turned life into a dark comedy. We can’t join their play of ‘blind obedience.’” So, he decided to write his own script and star in the movie of his life.
In this era of economic prosperity but moral decline, Lin Haoran firmly believed, “The cultural revival of a nation cannot rely solely on piling up GDP; it crucially depends on the integrity index of its people and the depth of their beliefs.” He often quipped, “Look at those highly educated but morally deficient individuals; it’s like driving a Ferrari in the desert—impressive speed, but without direction, they end up stuck in the sand.”
For those who shallowly regarded religion as superstition, Lin Haoran always smiled and said, “Hey, buddy, you’re superstitious about your own ignorance! We need to embrace all perspectives to appreciate the vastness of the cosmic journey. Otherwise, it’s like an owl mocking a fish for not being able to fly, forgetting that it can’t swim either!”
In this way, Lin Haoran, the witty and humorous guy, navigated the delicate relationships with nature, others, and the unknown world in his unique quest for true essence. He staged an unconventional life comedy, demonstrating that the meaning of life lies not only in acquiring knowledge and wealth but also in bravely exploring, perceiving, and understanding this mysteriously colorful world.
