UI到底是什么意思呢？UI设计师又是做什么的呢？
UI 其实是 user interface 的缩写，含义是用户界面，维基百科上对UI是这么定义的：
A user interface is the system by which people (users) interact with a machine. The user interface includes hardware (physical) and software (logical) components. Generally, the goal of human-machine interaction engineering is to produce a user interface which makes it easy, efficient, enjoyable to operate a machine in the way which produces the desired result. This generally means that the operator needs to provide minimal input to achieve the desired output, and also that the machine minimizes undesired outputs to the human.
用户界面是一个人机交互系统，它包括硬件（物理层面）和软件（逻辑层面）两方面。一般来说，人机交互工程的目标是打造一个让用户操作简单、便捷的界面。所以也就是说，UI 指的不是简单的用户和界面，还包括用户和界面的交互。那么作为 UI 设计师，要做的就不只是设计出美观的界面，还要设计出让用户用起来舒服、操作简单的界面。
网页技术按照传统的分类来说，分为设计和开发两部分，英语中叫做 web design 和 web development，UI 设计师既然叫设计，肯定是属于design 里面的，而设计一般还分为前端设计和后端设计，前端叫做 front-end， 后端叫做 back-end。简单的打个比方，就是前端负责画蓝图、后端负责盖高楼，而UI设计师，就是属于前端设计的。
