A major setback of mobile agent technology is - apart from a frequently cited absence of appropriate security machanisms - a lack of interoperability between systems from mobile agents, which prevents mobile agent from reaching "critical mass" for widespread application. Interoperability is required where systems of different vendors

instead of implementing a pracitcal application, I intend to build up an implementation of a simplified framework for research and experiment use. After some improvement later on, it can be used as an practical platform.

about moblile agent, there are some other alternative technologies, such as RPC, proxy server, etc, that have many of these same advantages. The problem with these atlternative technologies is that each one is only suitable for certain acpplication. A mobile-agent system is a single, unified framework in which a wide range of distributed applications can be implemented easily and efficiently.
