About URL

Today,I want to access http://support.google.com/webmaster.Maybe because i use goagent or something else,i can't visit successfully.So i change my way:http://support.google.com/webmaster/?hl=en.It can work in my pc.

I want to know something about the syntax of url. So i write something here to record it .

First, let's introduce URI(uniform resource identifier(标识符)),it is a string or characters to identify a name or a web resource.Most of us  including me will wonder what's the difference between URI and URL(uniform resource Locators（定位符）) . URL belongs to URI, in other words ,URI can be classified as locators (URL),as names(URN).But what is URN(uniform resource name).Now do not anxious ,i will introduce it immediately. A URN functions likes a person's name while a URL resembles that people's street address.In other words: the URN defines an item's identity, while the URL provides a method for finding it.URN and URL have complementary purpose. 

URN,as the name suggest,is "name".For example ,when we talk about ISBN (international standard book number)978-7-5609-7700-3   ,it refers to a book's special version named 《language implementation patterns》.URN allows us to talk about the resource without implying it's location or how to access it(it is the business of URL).

The concept of the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is to provide information on both the type of network service being accessed and the location, all in a single consistent syntax. Think of a URL as the network extension of a file pathname specification. In addition to specifying a file, it can tell where the file may be found on the network and what method may be used to access it. In fact, it can refer to more than just files.
